All virtual programs are open to youth enrolled at any MNPS middle school. However, if/when virtual afterschool programs return to an in-person format, an in-person option will ONLY be available to youth enrolled at the listed associated school(s).

LEGENDS @ Old Hickory Community Center

At Old Hickory Community Center, we provide the youth to have multiple learning opportunities free of charge. We start with a healthy snack which includes a sandwich, vegetable, and fruit and ice breakers which involves a W.O.D, Trivia, a Riddle and a STEAM project. We then go into homework and help with the youth, on some days we do teaching kitchen which allows the youth to make healthy foods and get the recipe to be able to make at home. We also have guess speakers to come in to talk about different things like bullying and other stuff that connect to the youth. At the end we go into a fun activity or game for the youth to play. Incentives will be brought to the youth for multiple occasions through the year including field trips and treats.

LEGENDS @ Hartman Park Community Center

Here at Hartman, youth will experience a safe and friendly environment that will allow them to express themselves. They will engage in a variety of hands on activities such as: science experiments, cooking, and art projects. They will learn life skills, writing skills, teambuilding, ect. Our goal is to prepare them for high school and beyond (college, careers, etc).

LEGENDS @ Madison Community Center

Madison Community Center partnering with NAZA will provide an environment where kids will be engaged mentally and physically through a variety of activities. They will learn skills essential to everyday life such as communicating and team building. Also providing inclusion of activities and social well-being to improve mental and physical health. Madison Community Center is dedicated to paving a pathway for success for our youth in the community.

LEGENDS @ Smith Springs Community Center

Smith Springs Regional Community Center?s NAZA funded afterschool program for middle-schoolers is dedicated to creating a nurturing environment where youth feel socially and emotionally safe, positive youth development principles prevail, and learning is fun and engaging. We create an out-of-school-time culture where youth can develop untapped potential, feel empowered to learn about themselves, and are given opportunities to engage in their community. Our activity offerings include: STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, Math); service learning; social and emotional learning; nutrition, health, and wellness; literacy; personal development, and life skills. Through project-based learning, extended learning field trips, and enhancement partners, we are able to empower students and partner with schools to enhance the academic school day.

LEGENDS @ Coleman Park Community Center

Youth enrolled in Coleman Park's NAZA-funded program can expect STEAM activities, homework assistance, sports and recreation, self reflection, youth empowerment opportunities, and creative writing prompts. Coleman staff is ready to foster basic digital literacy skills, curiosity and love of learning, communication skills, self-knowledge and emotional intelligence. In addition, Coleman staff will provide a safe space for youth to gain confidence in their problem solving skills, youth entrepreneurship, and global citizenship.
